Throughout history, music and musicians have been intertwined with politics and protest, both good and bad, from the folk songs of the Tolpuddle Martyrs to the Third Reich’s abuse of Wagner. This is because music is an extremely  powerful medium in which to spread and remember a message, originally from community to community and more recently, globally.

As an organisation for independent musicians and a movement for social justice, Freedom for Musicians are proud to stand firmly with the newly formed, Labour Against Racism And Fascism.

Labour Against Racism and Fascism (LARAF) is a network of Labour Party activists who want to build the Labour Party’s anti-racist and anti-fascist activity and policy.

LARAF aims to mobilise Labour Party members for anti-racist and anti-fascist activities, including demonstrations and local campaigns, as well as to share experience and spread local anti-racist initiatives across boroughs and Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs).

They are a new organisation still in the process of developing their goals and structure, and are working on reaching out to existing groups across London. If you’d like to be involved, or would like them to feature a blog post about your local campaign or initiative, please contact:
